Frequently Asked Questions
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Lee's Heating & Cooling is fully licensed and insured.
Do you service all HVAC brands?
Yes. We service, repair, and install most major HVAC brands.
Do you offer free estimates?
We provide free estimates for new system installations and replacements. Diagnostic visits for repairs are billed at our standard service rate.
How often should I have my HVAC system serviced?
We recommend professional maintenance twice a year: once in the spring for your air conditioner and once in the fall for your furnace.
What are the benefits of regular maintenance?
Routine maintenance helps improve efficiency, reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, extend equipment life, and keep your system operating safely.
What happens during a maintenance visit?
We inspect, clean, test, and verify your system is operating safely and efficiently.
How often should I change my air filter?
Most filters should be checked monthly and replaced every 1 to 3 months, depending on the type of filter, whether you have pets, allergies, and your home's conditions.
Why is one room hotter or colder than the rest of my house?
Uneven temperatures can be caused by airflow restrictions, ductwork issues, insulation, sun exposure, or an improperly sized HVAC system.
Does closing vents in unused rooms save money?
No. Closing vents can reduce airflow and place additional strain on your HVAC system. Most systems are designed to operate with all vents open.
Does turning my thermostat lower cool my house faster?
No. Your air conditioner cools at the same rate regardless of the thermostat setting. Lowering the temperature only makes the system run longer.
Is a bigger HVAC system better?
Not always. An oversized system can short cycle, reduce efficiency, increase wear, and lead to higher operating costs. The right-sized system is determined by your home's heating and cooling needs, and your ductwork must be able to deliver the proper airflow. Proper sizing is essential.
Why is my air conditioner freezing up?
A frozen system is often caused by restricted airflow, a dirty filter, low refrigerant, or another mechanical issue. Turn the system off, set the fan to ON, and allow the system to thaw completely before scheduling service.
Why are my energy bills suddenly higher?
Higher utility bills can result from dirty filters, lack of maintenance, aging equipment, refrigerant issues, airflow problems, or unusually hot or cold weather.
Should I repair or replace my HVAC system?
That depends on the age, condition, repair cost, and efficiency of your current system. We'll explain your options and recommend what makes the most sense for your home and budget.
How long does an HVAC repair usually take?
Many repairs can be completed during the same visit. If special parts are needed, we'll explain the next steps and provide an estimated timeline.
How long does it take to replace an HVAC system?
Most residential HVAC system replacements can be completed in one to two days, depending on the scope of work.
Do you install customer-supplied equipment?
In some cases, yes. We'll first verify compatibility and discuss any warranty considerations before installation.
Do you offer emergency service?
Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. If an urgent repair is needed, we'll do our best to accommodate emergency service as our schedule allows.
Will you recommend replacing my system if it can be repaired?
No. If a repair is the best option, that's what we'll recommend. We believe in honest recommendations and helping our customers make informed decisions.
